November 28th, 2007

Accidental smudges, finger prints and dust can destroy a whole day of photoshoot. You realize the dust and smudge only when you come back home and se your pictures in the computer. There are some smart ways to clean the camera lens. Let’s see…

Two must have things for lens cleaning are

    - A lens cleaning cloth and
    - A lens cleaning fluid.

One drop on your lens cleaning cloth in a gentle circular motion with a will get most marks off the lens. In popular digital camera stores you can buy a pretty good lens cleaning fluid. It shouldn’t be more than $20-$25 depending on where you go. The digital camera lens cleaning fluid is an alcohol-based fluid that cleans the surface pretty neat of smudges and traces of dirt. Don’t forget about your other digital camera filters too. You can have a polarizer on the front of your lens which will most likely need a clean if you’re using your digital camera a lot, or if you are using it outside for a day. You’ll be amazed at how dirty the lens can get. If you’re not sure, grab a lens cleaning kit from your nearest digital camera store.

    How to clean?
Gently apply the fluid to the cloth and rotate it on the lens/filter. Don’t pressurize.

    Do not
    - Over pressurize while cleaning.
    - Clean with any other cloth.
    - Don’t use your T-Shirt.
    - Use a good cleaning solution and not any other medium.
