December 15th, 2007

Unlike in film photography, your mistakes glare out in digital photographs. You see the results right then and there. Hence you got to be extra careful while taking pictures on your digital camera. Well, there are some basic things that you should keep in mind while taking digital photos that will help you avoid most of the common mistakes. Some of them are mentioned below.

    • Use a good digital camera. Don’t ever go for cheap cameras, but select only the best in quality. These days there are lot of affordable ones with good quality available. So go for them. Never compromise on quality or you will have to repent for ever later.
    • Don’t shake. This is really important. Don’t shake your camera while taking pics. Practice holding the camera so that when you really have to take pics you don’t have to try too hard. Practice holding the camera without shakes and also study and practice how to click photos keeping the cam steady.
    • Don’t keep your subject too far. Never keep your subjects too far or they will go out of focus.
    • Use the correct focus. Focus completely on the subject. Only a practiced professional photographer will be able to click photos without the blur. For this focus on the target and clear out distortion.
    • Don’t let the red eye appear. Ask your subject to look at the camera and not the lens.
    • Don’t use flash often. using flash often will over expose the subject. If it is  daylight, don’t use flash. You may use it indoors. If necessary use a flash with indirect light.

The best method to avoid photos is to practice. After all your digital camera has lots of memory and there is no cost involved. Make subjects in different conditions at home itself and click as many photos as possible in various conditions. Evaluate the photos and study from them. This is the best way to avoid mistakes in digital photography.
